5 Natural Ways To Boost Your Immune System

5 Natural Ways To Boost Your Immune System

by Sally Walters

With the cold season already upon us, it’s absolutely normal that we start thinking of ways to boost our immunity, to make sure we stay safe and healthy in this crazy whirlwind of a year.

Why is our immune system so important, you say? Well, imagine your body is constantly under attack. Bacteria, viruses, all sorts of nasty little pathogens try to enter our body and wreak havoc.

This is where our immune system comes in, acting like the knight in shinning armor, here to protect our honor (or in this case our health!). It consists of a wide network of cells, organs and tissues that keep watch 24/7, making sure that harmful microbes stay away.

If our body is really a temple, our immunity system is the intricate defense mechanism our temple has to keep attackers away.

But our immune system is not infallible, so we must make sure that we help it as much as we can, to keep it strong and vigilant, so that in turn it will keep us safe from pathogenic harm.

Let’s see 5 natural ways to give our immune system the so much needed boost this fall:

1. Be mindful of what you eat

A healthy body starts with a healthy diet! Make sure to eat organic foods, plenty of vegetables, fruits, whole grains, proteins and healthy fats. No more of those midnight snacks consisting of junk food. Yes, you heard me, slowly, slowly put that French fry down.

Make sure your diet is rich in vitamins (Vitamin C, Vitamin B6, Vitamin E) that can be found in different healthy and yummy foods.

2. Water is life so hydrate!

Water is a key factor in keeping a strong immune system. Why is that? Well, because our body contains an important liquid called lymph, that is largely made out of water. The lymph has the important role of carrying around your body immune cells that can fight off infection.

So, when you are dehydrated, the lymph movement slows down, and that in turn can weaken your immune system.

P.S: While I am writing this bullet, I am sipping on a big glass of water! Gotta keep that lymph top notch!

3. Sleeping Beauty was the picture of health!

Another super important and natural way to keep your immune system strong is to get plenty of sleep. While you sleep, your body regenerates, including to the cell level. So, while you're off to Dreamland, your body works to create infection-fighting molecules that will help your immune system.

4. Boost your body with some organic & tasty supplements

A simple way to support your immune system is with the help of supplements and vitamins.

That are many options out there so make sure you find the best one for you and your needs. For me, what does wonders is the Elderberry syrup.

Elderberries are well renowned for their antioxidant properties and have been used for centuries as a natural remedy for many illnesses. I take regularly a dose of Elderberry Hill Organics Syrup as it’s completely organic, it has no sugar and it keeps my immunity vigilant!

Of course, you can make your own mix of supplements and vitamins, taking multivitamins or even some essential oils that are good for the immunity, like lemon, peppermint or lavender. The important thing is to find the right combination that works for you!

5. Achieve the level of a Zen Master!

I know, I know, this is the hardest one! It’s almost impossible nowadays to live a stress-free life. But hear me out!

Both our stress response and our immune response are tightly connected. High levels of stress and anxiety can weaken the immune system, so, if you know you are prone to worry endlessly, try to find a routine to relax and unwind.

Try to meditate, work on your breathing, try to visualize your fear and release it!

There are plenty of apps out there that can help with meditation and breathing, and if you’re up to it, even therapy can do miracles.

My best advice? To keep a strong immunity system, stay positive, take care of both your body and mind, stay informed and treat yourself with kindness and patience!
