How to start a healthy lifestyle - A simple guide
Many people constantly wonder how to start a healthy lifestyle.
The task might seem daunting, almost impossible to achieve.
Our lives are hectic and, more often than not, we forget how to live healthy.
We eat too many processed foods.
We overindulge on sugary sweets and junk food.
We don’t exercise enough or at all.
We have one too many nightcaps and way too little water.
The list can go on and on and on…
I’m here to tell you that every little step counts when it comes to healthy lifestyle changes.
You don’t have to start big, you don’t have to do everything at once. Just make small tweaks to your everyday routine and, once you get comfortable with those, make some more.
Here’s a list of simple steps to improve your life:
Drink lots of water
Living a healthy lifestyle should start with how much water you drink daily.
Water is an essential part of life. It helps our bodies function properly, it transports oxygen and nutrients throughout our body, and it helps our organs carry out their bodily functions.
Generally speaking, an adult needs to drink between 2 and 3 liters of water everyday. In reality, few people actually achieve that.
Start small. Divide your water intake into smaller amounts and try to keep a half-liter bottle with you at all times. Take sips constantly, instead of waiting until you feel very thirsty.
Be mindful of what you eat
There are many healthy things to do in order to feel better. Your eating habits are a big part of your lifestyle and you should pay extra attention to the foods you eat.
Try to include more fruits and veggies in your diet. They are full of vitamins and minerals that your body needs. Add as many as possible to your shopping list.
When at the grocery store, think of the rainbow when choosing your produce. Here’s a few things you should have on your plate, sorted by color:
- White: bananas, mushrooms
- Yellow: mango, pineapple
- Orange: papaya, oranges
- Red: tomatoes, watermelon, strawberries, apples
- Green: avocado, celery, lettuce, guava, cucumbers
- Purple/Blue: eggplants, blueberries, prunes
Avoid eating processed foods and trigger foods.
Trigger foods are those that you just can’t stop eating once you start. For example, my trigger foods are sweets. In my life, I’ve never been able to eat just one piece of chocolate. If I start, I’ll eat the whole thing, so I try to avoid it as much as possible.
Be more active
This one is a bit harder to start. We know.
You should be exercising everyday, even a little bit. We’re not saying you should start going to the gym daily, unless you want to of course, but you should make time for 30 minutes each day of light to moderate exercise.
Take long walks, go jogging, do some yoga, ride a bicycle, or go swimming. These are all steps to a healthy lifestyle.
Give your body the nutrients it needs
Sometimes your body doesn’t get all the vitamins and minerals it needs just from food. Make sure you include some supplements in your routine that will help you achieve the required daily intake of essential elements.
Boost your energy levels with Vitamin D. Elderberry Hill’s Vitamin D3+K2 can elevate your mood, while also making your body stronger.
Another vital vitamin is Vitamin C, which can strengthen your immunity and stop you from getting sick. Choose a liquid formula like Elderberry Hill’s Vitamin C Liquid Drops that is easy to take and won’t upset your stomach.
Last but not least, try the Elderberry Syrup that is suitable for the whole family. Rich in antioxidants and vitamins, this syrup is a must if you’re ready to improve your well-being.
If you follow these easy steps to a healthier lifestyle, you’ll soon discover that it’s not hard at all to improve your life!
All it takes is a bit of motivation, determination, and the desire to change for the better.
Surround yourself with positive people, people that make you feel good and give you the strength to grow, learn, and flourish.
After all, a healthy lifestyle goes hand in hand with a positive mindset!
